“It's the end of the training. Do you know what that means? It's time to break out the feedback forms!” “Yay! Feedback forms!” said no class ever …
Feedback is important. Asking learners to fill out a feedback form at the very end of the class is not a good use of the recency effect.
The recency effect tells us that we remember the most recent information most accurately. So the final part of any training segment is critical. This is the last chance to give learners activities help the learning stick.
So how can we use the recency effect? C4 Conclusions from Sharon Bowman‘s Training from the BACK of the Room! make excellent use of it. C4 Conclusions provide trainers with options to help learning stick by reflecting, summarising, evaluating, celebrating, and planning.
